佛菩萨无处不在 | The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are Omnipresent - 蓬莱阁传说 | 蓬莱阁旁！

有些人喜欢去朝山，四大名山，各种的祖庭——各个宗派的祖庭，各个祖师的道场都去，他觉得这才有加持力。那么要加持什么呢？他要加持平安、吉祥、健康、事业顺利发达。许愿，也就是内心当中对现世的许多所求。他觉得这些名山，这些圣地所供奉的菩萨才比较灵，能够满愿，就到那里去求了。然后许了一个愿：这事情办成了，以后怎么来感谢菩萨。这样的人也很多，这其实都是我们凡人的一种心态。

Some people like to make pilgrimages to mountains, the Four Holy Mountains, and ancestral temples of different schools, because they think they can receive blessings only in this way. What blessings do they wish for? They desire to be blessed for peace, good luck, health, success in career. They make wishes to beg for many worldly things of this life. They think only the Bodhisattvas who are worshipped in famous and holy mountains and shrines are efficacious and capable of fulfilling their wishes. So they go there and make a wish, promising that after the wish is fulfilled they would come back to give their thanks. There are so many people of this kind. In fact, this is only our ordinary people’s state of mind.

佛菩萨无处不在，如果我们以一种烦恼的心、染污的心去求菩萨，那菩萨会怎么看待我们呢？菩萨肯定会看你这个人很可怜，如果说你这个业很重的话，菩萨依然帮不了。但是，这样的状况很流行。

The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are omnipresent. If we beseech a Bodhisattva with an afflictive and defiled mind, how would he look on us? The Bodhisattvas will definitely feel you are so pitiful. If you have grave negative karma, you cannot fulfill your wish anyway. Nevertheless, such phenomenon is extremely popular.

又有些人觉得到哪个庙里面去打普佛、放焰口、放蒙山、做佛事、打斋、放生、做法会、做水陆等等比较灵验，就去找这样的一些庙。这些庙也就逐步变成以做佛事、注重这些仪轨、注重这些场面为主。

Still others think it is efficacious to perform Buddhist ceremonies, such as praying for auspiciousness, feeding of hungry ghosts, providing Dharma services liberating ghosts and spirits, offering alms, freeing captive animals, performing rites for deliverance of sentient beings of water and land, etc. Therefore, they run here and there to look for monasteries doing such things. Consequently these monasteries would gradually change into places specialized in Dharma services, paying more attention to rituals and ceremonies.

刚才所谈到的许愿也好，做佛事也好，所有的这些所追求的都是现世的一些安乐、现世的一些事情，跟佛法的本意是了不相干的。

For those phenomena I have mentioned above, whether you go for impetration or Buddhist ceremonies, all you are after is the peace and happiness of this life, which are irrelevant to the real intention of the Dharma.
